MSU AIChE Symposium Day Spring 2026

Join us on April 3rd from 9:00 AM - 4:15 PM in the Union Ballroom and Lake Huron Room for Symposium Day. Get the chance to hear from MSU Professors and Graduate Students about their research, companies and their upcoming opportunities, MSU AIChE E-Board members, and connect with other MSU Chemical Engineers. 

Check-in

Check-in will take place at the event when you arrive only. There are no pre-purchase tickets. On arrival, you will scan a QR code and use Cheddar Up to purchase your ticket and go to the designated desk to receive your vouchers and merchandise.

MSU AIChE Members - Free Entry (If dues are paid)

MSU Students - $20

Non MSU AIChE Members - $15

Speakers and Event Workers - Free Entry

Even with free entry, all guests must check in

Food Details

Attendees will receive a meal voucher and event merchandise at check-in. Breakfast will be served buffet-style (first-come, first-served) in the Ballroom during the keynote presentation. We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Lunch will be served at noon, during which the Ballroom will host a ChemE Jeopardy session, while the Lake Huron Room will remain open for networking and informal discussion. Following lunch, presentations will resume, concluding with a brief closing announcement before the career fair.

Keynote speaker

Carl Lira

Associate Professor, part of the MSU Chemical Engineering and Materials Sciences department. Dr. Lira's research focuses on Thermodynamics of Complex Systems, Molecular Simulations, and Property Measurements. Known for his many publications, such as co-authoring Introductory Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, a textbook used by many universities. 1991, 1998, 1999 Outstanding Professor of the Year, 1992, 2004, 2022 MSU Winthrow Teaching Excellence Award, and 2025 MSU CHEMS Johansen Crosby Lecturer. Dr. Lira has contributed significantly to the scientific community, chemical engineering, and MSU as a whole through his teaching and research. Join us on Symposium Day to have Dr. Lira begin the day as our keynote speaker.
